Our Rooms
The Carers
Here at Apple Tree Day Care Nursery we take every care that we have the best possible people caring for your children. Every one of our staff is CRB checked (CRB - Criminal Records Bureau) and has up to date paediatric First Aid, Basic Food Hygiene and are in house trained on Child Protection, Health & Safety and Manual Handling.
When new staff join us they are inducted over a 12 week period to ensure they familiarise them selves with our practices, procedures and to make sure they are working to our high standard.
The majority of our staff are qualified nursery nurses and we do have nursery assistants who are working towards their qualifications.
Each of our five rooms have an experienced, qualified senior who lead’s the room and their individual dedicated teams.
The Baby Unit:
Our baby unit consists of three rooms aged from 3 months to 2 years. Although we have an age range, we reflect on our children’s individual abilities and so the age range can be flexible depending on their needs.
We work with you as parents to ensure that your child’s routines are followed and integrated into the nursery routine. We have a separate cot room which holds 7 cots and all blankets and sheets are washed daily to maintain high standards of cleanliness. We have a room monitor on at all times whilst children are sleeping and all children are physically checked every 15 minutes.
We provide all food at nursery, including breakfast, lunch, light bite and snacks. Our menu consists of a baby menu and toddler menu. We work closely with parents to ensure all dietary needs are taken care of and work together when introducing babies to new foods.
We do ask that parents bring in any formula milk and breast milk, which can be stored in the baby room kitchenette. We also ask parents to provide nappies and wet wipes or cotton wool for children who attend.

This room also have times to include pre-school activities which focus on letters and numbers. This includes a letter of the week where the children will concentrate on the phonics and recognition of a certain letter per week.
Age appropriate toys and activities are set out daily within the rooms and all of the children are encouraged to join in with and take part in all sorts of fun, stimulating activities.
Each of our baby rooms has a flexible routine, which includes breakfast, lunch and a light bite, song times, outside times, snack times, sleep/rest times and the children also have planned experiences set out each day.
We have a lovely sized garden that all children can use and enjoy and we also have a separate sensory area and wild garden including a fish pond. We also have a toddler garden situated at the front of the nursery secured by locked gates.
Of course we want all of our parents to feel secure when leaving their child and to know that their child is receiving the same care they do at home. This is why we have three separate settling in visits for children before they join the nursery.
The first visit is ½ hour where we take care to talk to our parents and find out as much information on their children. We ask for any routines to follow, any comfort toys or words and any specific likes or dislikes.
The second visit is 1 ½ hour where you can settle your child into their room and then wait in our parents room.
The third visit is for 3 hours and this is when you can settle your child and leave to have a few hours to yourself!
We also give each parent/carer’s feedback on their child’s day at pick up time and can inform them of sleep times, nappy times and general well being.
